Opened in the Fall of 2015, on Rosewood Drive, The Local Buzz is a favorite meeting spot for Wales Garden, Melrose Heights, University Hill, UofSC, Shandon and Rosewood residents, local business owners, coffee lovers and everyone who enjoys fresh sandwiches and desserts in a comfortable, friendly, and welcoming setting. The 15 seat café offers comfortable seating, music, books, and board games. We proudly support Richland One Schools, Midlands Technical College, University of South Carolina, Columbia College, Benedict College, Allen University, and other private, online and alternative schools in the community
Owner operator, Stephanie Griggs Bridgers and eldest son, *Alex Williamson, opened The Local Buzz in order to serve a variety of fresh and delicious sandwiches, soups, salads, ice cream, pastries, smoothies, and coffee drinks, while providing exceptional and friendly service to the customers. Sam, Eli, Noah, and Michael, affectionately known as Team Bridgers are on standby, as this continues to be a family venture! In October 2017, beer, wine and brunch were added to the menu. In September 2018, the Marketplace and Meeting Space expanded in the next door unit and connected both areas to accommodate more guests, offer event space, and showcase local products. In January 2020, our #coffeecafecommunity will relocate to Five Points on Harden Street. Ms Stephie wanted to recreate the cafe that she opened in the first place - an open kitchen to bake and welcome everyone, while managing an on the job training center for those with disabilities. With an eclectic flair, The Local Buzz continues to utilize both modern and vintage styles to create a comfortable atmosphere that welcomes local residents, visitors and business owners alike. Our patrons come for exceptional food and friendly surroundings. Come, relax, and stay a while at The Local Buzz. But, more than atmosphere, great music, and cozy comforts, freshly roasted coffees, and the finest local produce, The Local Buzz strives to create every meal and drink with care and attention. We specialize in gluten free, vegan, paleo, vegetarian, and keto. Please visit and taste what we make and bake to order and take time to meet new & old friends
*Alex moved back to The Big Island of Hawaii in January 2016 and is employed by Bee Boys. inc as a Beekeeper and Product Rep
While working almost 9 years at a non-profit Parent to Parent organization for Parents of Children with Special Needs, Stephanie started a group called The Breakfast Club - a social group for Teens/Tweens, in middle/high school, and their parents, to connect with others and have healthy, safe friendships. One of the missions of our family business is to provide a secure, but fun, environment for teens and young adults in our community.
